EntreMundos [InBetweenWorlds] approaches the traditional cultures of Giants, using large scale puppets, crossing techniques of construction and manipulation, inviting us to rediscover and to remember the perspectives, the forms and the dimensions of the vision of a child.

In a dimension between the living and the dead, a space between purgatory and limbo, begins a journey through an imaginary universe inspired by Death, one of the biggest questions of humanity, guilty of stimulating man's imagination in the creation of parallel universes.

"The Portuguese company PIA shows that family-friendly street theatre does not have to be only comedy, their In Between Worlds is a beautiful performance where we follow the four characters path into the kingdom of death. I've experienced a lot of room for their interpretations, on themes like time and unfulfilled dreams as we walk alongside the actors and their wagon halfway around the lake Lille Lungegårdsvann (...). The art of death has made, in the three-year-olds and seventies, an equal sense of joy."

-Maja Skanding, Periskop

"It was surprising the presence of some disturbing characters from the street theatre 'Entremundos' , which is part of the Festival de las Ánimas. The Portuguese company PIA is responsible for this unique show that communicates with the spectators, who are also, in some way, part of representation.”

BIO

PIA - Projectos de Intervenção Artística (Artistic Intervention Projects) was founded in 2002, in Pinhal Novo Village (Portugal), as a professional platform directed for the street performance and visual arts. With a multidisciplinary character, the company's creations address the physical theatre, the body language as the primary basis for the motion and drama, illustrated by animated forms; the new circus using in a singular way with sense and perfect control of the aerial techniques, particularly the stilts; the aesthetics plasticity that explores the concept of Installation, in its ability to transform the perception of public space and in its ephemerality within a place.

Directing its pieces for the public and non-conventional spaces as a choice (not necessarily as a lack of alternative), PIA assumes the STREET as a "state of consciousness," a "stage" for excellence, for its most direct way of reaching an artistic process among the populations, a vitality to social relations, the proximity and accessibility of the public towards the arts, achievable to any citizen of the world, regardless social, racial or religious divisions, via the work of this company.

Since 2007 PIA integrates the programming team as artistic consultant for street theatre performances for FIG - International Festival of Giants (Portugal). Since 2008 it is responsible for the Artistic Direction of CIÊNCIA NA RUA International Festival of Science and Art, organized by Centro Ciência Viva de Estremoz.

With 18 years of existence, PIA’s work is fundamentally marked by several projects. The company has performed in Europe, Asia and South America. From this international path it stands out the participation in International Theatre Festival of Bogotá (Colombia); in Kotor International Theater Festival for Children where it received the Special Mention with Passage project for artistic relevance and new sensitivity level achieved; in FETA International Street and Open-Air Theater Festival of Gdansk (Poland), where it get the critical by Anna Jazgarska for the best proposal for the 2014 festival edition, published in the Magazine of Theatre and Performance Teatralny.pl; among others.
