A glance at contemporary puppet theatre in Iran by the director, performer and author Marjan Poorgholamhossein, who will present her show Flight No. 745, at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, from 24 May to 26 May.
The puppet traditions, training, creative processes and what motivates Iranian artists nowadays:
a) Puppet tradition (rituals and Kheymeh Shabazi);
b) First steps through modern puppetry;
c) What’s happening now (Universities, Festivals, new taste, etc.).
Marjan Poorgholamhossein has graduated from Tehran University with M.A in Puppetry, she started her work as a puppeteer in 2003 and had performed as a puppet manipulator in more than 25 puppet shows in several international puppet festivals and Flight No. 745 is her third show as a director.
