We made the 22nd edition with a lot of emotions, after two intense years in which, despite the pandemic, we've always been able to do the Festival live and with artists on stage!

A multidisciplinary platform for the arts of contemporary puppetry, FIMFA Lx22 had as its motto 'Thinking the Future' and brought together, over twenty-four days, various perspectives and issues, which included a set of projects with robots, animatronics, shadows, science fiction, mechanical objects and even giant insects!

FIMFA has once again taken over the city with performances and other activities, such as workshops and films screenings. Nineteen shows from eighteen companies were presented, with twelve portuguese premieres and one world premiere, from various countries: Belgium, France, Holland, Italy, Israel and Portugal.

The public once again joined in and practically all the shows sold out and filled several venues, such as São Luiz Teatro Nacional, Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, LU.CA - Teatro Luís de Camões, Teatro do Bairro, Teatro Taborda, Museu de Lisboa - Palácio Pimenta, Museu Nacional do Teatro e da Dança, Centro Cultural da Malaposta or Cinemateca Portuguesa.

A journey in images that includes Claudio Stellato and Work, the opening show of FIMFA; Cie Karyatides and Frankenstein; Ugo Dehaes, creator of robot-dancers, with Simples Machines, which was included in the list of best theatre shows of 2022, by newspaper Expresso. We will also travel through the creations of Renaud Herbin, Johanny Bert, Julien Mellano and the Collectif AÏE AÏE AÏE, Cie Betty Boibrut', Jean-Pierre Larroche - Les Ateliers du Spectacle, Marta Cuscunà, Teatro de Marionetas do Porto, Simone de Jog, Mr. Image Theatre and Big Bugs Show or Trupe Fandanga. In a festival edition that also featured the company Mecanika, Teatro de Ferro, Moran Duvshani and her Cardiophone, Susana Domingos Gaspar and Bonecos de Santo Aleixo. Thank you all!

This is already the fifth documentary produced about FIMFA and participating companies. An initiative that is part of the project of archiving, documenting and promoting the puppetry arts and animated forms that has been developed by A Tarumba.
