FIMFA Lx22
International Festival of Puppetry and Animated Forms
13 May to 5 June - Lisbon
Welcome to the future!
Listening to the melody of your heart, robotics, animatronics, shadows, science fiction, giant insects, mechanical objects...
Experience the universe of Puppetry as a mirror of different worldviews!
"The puppet, a way of being me, without being me." - Johanny Bert, Théâtre de Romette
"I try to set objects in motion and arouse emotions with moving things, instead of with bodies." - Ugo Dehaes
A Tarumba - Teatro de Marionetas produces in Lisbon, from 13th May to 5th June, the 22nd edition of FIMFA Lx - International Festival of Puppetry and Animated Forms, with artistic direction by Luís Vieira and Rute Ribeiro.
We have reached the 22nd edition of the festival renewed and with emotion, after two intense years in which, despite the pandemic, we've always been able to do the Festival live and with artists on stage!
A multidisciplinary platform for the arts of contemporary puppetry, FIMFA Lx22 has as its motto 'Thinking the Future' and with this highlight it will bring together, over twenty- four days, various perspectives and issues. How to interact our body with an artificial body and bring life to it? How to establish relationships with what surrounds us? What are the limits between the object and the puppeteer? The link between body and material.
Nails, wood, paint, tools and everyday gestures are revisited and transformed. Real paintings come to life. The matter on stage is transformed before our eyes. We will be able to watch the birth of a song, listen to our heart or even teach robots how to dance.
The Festival presents artists from Belgium, France, Netherlands, Italy, Israel and Portugal. In addition to the presentation of shows, a number of parallel activities are developed, which include workshops, films and meetings with artists, among others.
FIMFA Lx is an artistic project, open to new tendencies, of international dimension presenting an artistic and technical high-level programme, with a very contemporary point of view. A multidisciplinary project committed since 2001 to the promotion, dissemination, knowledge and visibility of Puppetry and Animated Forms.
Welcome to FIMFA!
