An intimate and delicate object theatre on memory and identity, for 5 people. A brief history of Spain on the second half of the twentieth century.

If you could choose just one photo from your life, which one would you choose?

Last year, Xavier Bobés noticed that his memory was starting to go. He also realized that his mother was starting to forget things and there were big gaps in her memory. Cosas que se olvidan fácilmente (Things Easily Forgotten) is a photographic show that transforms memories and, like forgetfulness, generates new ones. A card game turned into a show.

Around a small table, in an intimate, salon setting, a powerful sequence of close-up sensory experiences invokes old memories and invents new ones. Through this miscellany of sights and sounds, objects and photos, a fascinating story unfolds in a powerful sequence exploring memory and identity. Like a magician, or medium at a séance, Xavier Bobés manipulates both past and future.

"In taking back to a time when Spain was gripped by facism, when Franco forged an alliance with Hitler, BobÉs coaxes us into asking what people forgot in 1942. More pressingly – and this is the brilliance of the piece – he persuades us to ask the same question of our own time. With extremism swirling about Europe, Things Easily Forgotten serves a reminder from history – lest we forget." - Matt Trueman, Whats On Stage ****

Few artists have the ability to conjure visual imagery in such a rich and powerful way as Xavi Bobés. His unique aesthetic universe often provokes genuine astonishment (…). Things easily forgotten is an amazing and brilliant show that penetrates the strange worlds of memory, imagination and childhood (…). - Joaquim Armengol, Proscenium & Recomana

Xavier Bobés creates unusual shows of visual theatre since 2003, when he started his company, Playground. Actor, scenic creator and manipulator. He describes himself as self-taught. Passionate about the poetry of objects, he has been researching for around 12 years with all kinds of everyday objects. He collaborates with other artists both as a performer and as a manipulator. Researching deeper in to the symbolic content, object theatre and all that appears banal. And this is done through the creation, testing and teaching. He is an artist resident in the artistic centre l’Animal a l’Esquena since 2013 at Celrà.
